Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Susan Gary Ashe, Senior Pastor

RevSusanReverend Susan was born in Oxford, Georgia, the daughter of a United Methodist Pastor. Susan first received Christ at age 12 and heard the call to ministry at age 20. She graduated from Emory University with a double major in music and psychology in 1984, and went to The Candler School of Theology, from whence she obtained her M.Div. with a focus in pastoral care in December of 1987.

Susan has been in the ministry since age 18 (Youth Director and Children’s Choir Director) and took her first official appointment in the United Methodist Church in 1989. Before being appointed here to Powder Springs in 2007, Susan served as Associate Pastor at both Stone Mountain First and Snellville First; as the Senior Executive Pastor at Oak Grove in Decatur; and as the Senior Pastor at Dacula First UMC.

At the Conference level, Susan has been honored to serve most recently as the Chairperson of the Order of Elders, on the Board of Ordained Ministry, as a Covenant Group leader at District and Conference levels, and as a Mentor for candidates for ministry. Susan enjoys the opportunity to serve Christ through our connectional system as well as in the local church.

Susan has two daughters, ages 20 and 18, both of whom are in school at the University of Georgia. For hobbies, Susan enjoys family and friends, exercise, reading and singing — Susan is a classically trained singer, singing with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, as well as here in Worship.
